Glamour of the North. New Russian trends by Valentin Yudashkin
Fashion House Valentin Yudashkin was the first who has brought the theme of Russian decorative art to the West.
The Designer is working with patterns and motives of Russian and Byzantine cultures more than 15 years. His first collection “Antique Russia” of 1988 has been dedicated to the iconography. The next haute couture collections, “Catherine The Great” of 1994, “Byzantine” of 2000 and “Travel from Saint-Petersburg to Moscow” of 2003, continue an artistic comprehension of cultures growing at the turn of East and West.
The new winter collection prêt-a-porter de lux bases on a combination of an accented elegancy and reserved luxury and presents the new variation of the designer’s favorite subject.
Antique Byzantine, Russian North, hot breath of West and Asiatic luxury are mixed up in its images, patterns and designs. Unique Bas-reliefs of Russian cathedrals, architectural forms of Russian Baroque, multicolored glazed tiles with flowers and fairy creatures from heathen legends get fresh and modern look. The traditional Russian folklore find its new interpretation and glamorous treatment in the collection presented by Fashion House Valentin Yudashkin.
The main principle of models and ensembles of the collection is their multi-ply and multi-texture. The combination of 5-6 different types of fabrics and a wide range of decorations is extensively used in one model. Velvet, tweed, mohair, ratine, lace, braid and hand made decorations may be combined in one ensemble.
The silhouette line of 90th used in the collection is characterized by accented shoulder line, understated arm-hole, accented waist line, soft forms of jackets without lining, voluminous blouses with draperies. Traditionally the Fashion House presents a range of elegant cocktail dresses and luxury evening dresses of high level. Discreet colors scale of silks of different textures and treatments contrasts with bright crepes and wool. Black, turquoise, tobacco, blue and olive-green were chosen as the base colors of the next season. Printed fabrics of complicated textured, embroidered and jacquard tweeds are extensively used. Velvet with a gold pattern superficially resembles antique mosaics and frescos.
To create the personalized design of fabrics the designers of Fashion House were working at the Archives of the Historical Museum. As the base they have used antique fabrics executed in a new range of colors. Byzantine ornamental patterns, Russian armory were widely used.
Rich decoration of models by beads and applications stays as always the visiting card of Valentin Yudashkin’s Fashion House.
New collection prêt-a-porter de lux presents a rich range of fresh designer’s ideas, and wide range of models oriented on patrons and new clients of Fashion House.
